Notice Period Calculator — Last Working Day & Shortfall

Free notice period calculator: find your last working day from resignation date and notice period, and check buyout shortfall if leaving early.

Frequently asked questions

What is a notice period calculator?

A notice period calculator works out your last working day from your resignation date and contractual notice period, and shows how many days remain. It also flags any shortfall if you plan to leave earlier than the full notice. Avani Business OS tracks notice periods and exits for HR teams.

How is the last working day calculated?

Last working day = resignation/notice-submission date + notice period (in days). For example, resigning on 1 June with a 60-day notice gives a last working day around 31 July. Some companies count calendar days, others working days — this tool uses calendar days.

What is notice period buyout / shortfall?

If you leave before serving the full notice, the shortfall days may be "bought out" — typically the employer recovers salary for the unserved days from your full & final settlement, or you pay it. Enter a planned last day to see the shortfall.

What is a typical notice period in India?

Notice periods commonly range from 30 days (1 month) for junior roles to 60–90 days for senior/IT roles, as per the employment contract. Probationary employees often have shorter notice (7–15 days).

How does Avani Business OS help with exits?

Avani records resignation dates, computes the last working day, and rolls notice adjustments, pending leave encashment and gratuity into one full & final settlement — so exits are accurate and on time.
